Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
